A Day in Posio – Ceramics and Local Life
Spend a day exploring the creative and authentic side of Lapland. In Posio, art and nature live in harmony — reflected in every handmade ceramic piece and every quiet lakeshore view.
You’ll meet your guide in the morning and begin a scenic two-hour drive from Rovaniemi through silent forests and frozen rivers — a peaceful journey into the heart of Lapland’s wilderness.
During this inspiring day in Posio, you’ll get to explore the region’s creative spirit and close relationship with nature.
Visit local artist Miki Kim in her tranquil Miki Studio, where clay, glazes, and soft light reveal how Lapland’s nature shapes each unique ceramic piece. Learn about the slow, mindful process behind her craft.
At the Pentik Hill Culture Centre, the world’s northernmost ceramics factory and an icon of Finnish design, you can wander through galleries and exhibitions, and pause for a moment in the charming café — feeling the calm rhythm of the North.
You’ll also meet a local fisherman by a tranquil lakeshore and hear stories of life shaped by the seasons and the water. You’ll see traditional fishing methods and experience Lapland’s deep connection to nature — while enjoying a fresh, home-style lunch by the fire, prepared from the lake’s own bounty.
As the day winds down, stop at Lehtiniemi Guesthouse for a peaceful afternoon coffee by the lake, taking in the quiet scenery before your return to Rovaniemi.
