The only ferry in Lapland operates between Räisälä Lappiniemi and Haaparanta, and in winter an ice road crosses the strait. The shortest route to Kemijärvi is along a beautiful scenic road through the village of Soppela or the longer route through the village of Joutsijärvi.

Ferry operates during summertime season between 06.00 - 22.00 when needed. Vehicle maximum length is 23.5 meters.No night runs. In winter, ice conditions permitting, an ice road is used.
