We take a minibus to the wilderness village of Lompolo, where light pollution and noise are left far behind. In the complete darkness and silence, the Northern Lights are at their most impressive. In the light of hand lanterns, we head from Soma Hideout on snowshoes to a cosy hut to wait for the Northern Lights. There we enjoy roasting sausages and warming up with hot chocolate.

You can never be sure when the northern lights will rise, but it's always worth hoping. The wide view north from the lake makes it a great place to see the northern lights. It's nice to stop off at the hut to warm up while you wait.
