The journey begins by the lake Tuusula, a small town known for being the cultural cradle of Finland – The shores of the lake were inhabited by the most famous Finnish artists such as Jean Sibelius in early 1900s. The small town located only 20 minutes from Helsinki-Vantaa airport offers culture and nature activities as well as laid back atmosphere. Krapi is a true Finnish setting. Homemade food prepared with care and hospitality in a villa atmosphere. The soup is flavoured with the rich cultural heritage of the area as well as with contemporary live entertainment.
20.30 Music club at Krapi’s Paja: Tuusula Lake Road’s culture caramel
A new music and event venue was opened early this year on the fields of Krapi. Paja represents enjoyment of culture, delicacies and life itself. Tuusulanjärven tapahtumat Ltd. (TuutT) is in charge of the cultural programme of Paja. Behind TuuT are the talented musicians Altti Uhlenius, Mikko Sirén, artist Hanne Lindström and producer Anu Uhlenius. TuuT produces a variety of music and theatre clubs, showsand multidisciplinary art events in collaboration with local artists. Regular themed clubs are the basis of the event chart. Paja’s club evenings are naturally to be enjoyed with delicacies and fine drinks which are provided by Krapi.

If you want to understand Finland and its people, getting familiar with sauna is a good starting point. There’s no other way starting your visit to Finland than trying out the traditional Saturday evening sauna – just like the 5 million Finns around you does. Krapi’s traditional smoke sauna by the lake Tuusula is an unforgettable experience and a relaxing ending for your first day in Finland.

10.00 A Guided tour at Ainola Museum, the home of Jean Sibelius
Ainola is located close to Lake Tuusula. It was the home of Jean Sibelius and his family from 1904. This timber-built villa was designed by the famous Finnish architect Lars Sonck. Its distance from the hustle and bustle of the nation’s capital gave the composer the peace that he needed for his creative endeavours, while other artistic families living in the neighbourhood provided a lively social circle.
11.00 Transfer to Helsinki
Helsinki, the capital of Finland, is a vibrant seaside city of beautiful islands and great green parks. The city’s rhythm is laid back yet at the same time refreshingly active in terms of both the number and quality of restaurants and cultural activities.

Monday will begin by visiting at Allas Sea Pool, one of the modern public saunas.

The tour starts from Lahti City Hall which was completed in 1912 and designed by Eliel Saarinen. From the City Hall, the tour continues to Church of Cross “Ristinkirkko” designed by Alvar Aalto and completed in 1978.
