Nellim is a village in the middle of the wilderness located 42 km northeast from the center of Ivalo and only 8 km from the Russian border. It is one of the oldest inhabited areas in Inari and signs of habitation have been found from as far back as the Stone Age, approximately 8000 years ago. The village is a nationally significant cultural-historical location and has only under 200 permanent Finnish, Inari Sami and Skolt Sami citizens.

In Nellim you will meet Skolt Sámi and Inari Sámi people, get to know the craft traditions, costumes and handicrafts. Visit to Holy Trinity Church

15:00 Transfer to Nuorgam
Nuorgam is is a small village some 500 kms above the Arctic Circle. It is located on the shores of the Tenojoki River – Europe’s best salmon fishing river – right on the Norwegian border and close to the Arctic Ocean.

On the way to Nuorgam stop by the historically important Utsjoki church, vicarage and church cottages.

The village of Lemmenjoki is situated 45 km to the west of Inari, on the banks of the River Lemmenjoki. The area is famous for its history of gold-prospecting and the marvelous nature of the Lemmenjoki National Park.

10:00 Visit to Siida Sámi Museum and Nature Centre
SIIDA is the home of the Sámi Museum and the Northern Lapland Nature Centre. With its cultural and nature exhibitions, it is both a meeting place and an exhibition center. SIIDA provides the visitor with new experiences and information on Sámi culture and nature of Northern Lapland.

11:30-13:30 Workshop at Sami Cultural Centre Sajos in Inari
The Sámi Cultural Centre Sajos is situated on the bank of River Juutuanjoki in Inari. Sajos is an exciting meeting place of multiculturalism creating better conditions for the Sámi to freely maintain and develop their own language, culture and livelihood and cultural self-government.

Meet the local suppliers at a workshop held in the Cultural Centre.
