WHAT IS THE SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL FINLAND LABEL?

To help the tourism industry in Finland to adopt sustainable practices, Visit Finland has developed the Sustainable Travel Finland programme. The programme is designed for Finnish tourism companies and destinations to develop more sustainable practices.

The participants that have undergone the STF programme and fulfilled the criteria, get the Sustainable Travel Finland label. So, when you spot a destination or a company that has the Sustainable Travel Finland label, you know they take sustainability seriously. And don’t worry – the companies and destinations will also be audited regularly.

Posio Lapland

To complete your comfortable stay we have saunas, playground for kids, dancing floor under the roof, cabinets for events and etc. All these facilities will make your holiday warm, relaxing, funny, cosy and joyful.

Naali Lodge

In southern Lapland, nestled in a pine forest, surrounded by lakes, Naali Lodge offers multi-activity stays to experience the raw and preserved nature in small groups of people up to eight. Enjoy the calm of our traditional buildings renovated in 2018 to rest and regenerate for a night or a week.

Hyvärilä – Youth and Holiday Centre

Hyvärilä is like a small village in the middle of nature. It offers plenty of activities all year round. Hyvärilä is a former farm located by the beautiful Lake Pielinen in North Karelia. Hyvärilä is also an excellent venue for a holiday, sports or different events.

Suomenlinna

Suomenlinna is a sea fortress located in the coast of Helsinki. The fortress is a Unesco World Heritage Site and a suburb of Helsinki with around 800 residents. With its museums, events and restaurants Suomenlinna offers a unique experience for visitors. The fortress is easily accessed all year.

The Säynätsalo Town Hall is one of architect Alvar Aalto’s most significant works. It enjoys a unique position in the history of modern architecture. In this famous building, you can enjoy a guided tour but also stay overnight in one of the original apartments or guestrooms.

Salla Museum of War and Reconstruction

The museum’s permanent exhibition is a trip through time, from the beginning of the twentieth century to the 1960s, telling the history of Kuoloyarvi (Finnish: Kuolajärvi) i.e. Salla. The name of the municipality was changed to Salla in 1936. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the outdoor exhibition area of the museum can be visited, which highlights traditional livelihoods and the wartime, as well as local superstitions with the help of the Elfland tour. The Salla Museum has a café and museum shop. The Rajakievari tavern is located in the yard of the museum and it also functions as a venue for events and private bookings. The Rajakievari tavern exhibits tavern traditions and is also a space for changing exhibitions.
