WHAT IS THE SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL FINLAND LABEL?

To help the tourism industry in Finland to adopt sustainable practices, Visit Finland has developed the Sustainable Travel Finland programme. The programme is designed for Finnish tourism companies and destinations to develop more sustainable practices.

The participants that have undergone the STF programme and fulfilled the criteria, get the Sustainable Travel Finland label. So, when you spot a destination or a company that has the Sustainable Travel Finland label, you know they take sustainability seriously. And don’t worry – the companies and destinations will also be audited regularly.

Since the year 1685 the Heiskanen family has provided travelers visiting Porosalmi in the northern part of beautiful Lake Saimaa with exceptional hospitality and services. Markus Heiskanen started to host Järvisydän at the beginning of 21st century. He is now keeping a guest house in 11th generation. Markus as young and eager host has built some more villas, hotel, Finnish Sauna World, tepee restaurant, Restaurant Piikatyttö & Wine Cellar, Lotjabaari - boat bar, a reception area, the Lake Spa and who knows what other plans there are in the head of Markus...
