The Kolmiköytinen rock painting is one of the most eye-catching in South Karelia, and is located 3.5-4.5m above the surface of Lake Saimaa.

The painting measures about 135 x 345 cm, and the vibrant red color of the ochre has been preserved exceptionally well.

The Kolmiköytinen rock painting dates from 3,700 to 4,700 years ago during the period following the Greater Saimaa stage. The rock consists of granodiorite formed 1,880 million years ago and is intersected by younger granite pegmatite dikes.
