Guided Tour: Muuratsalo Experimental House

Varaktighet 90 minuter

The Experimental House is a studio and summer apartment designed by Alvar and Elissa Aalto for themselves, located on the west shore of Muuratsalo island, about 30 minutes by car from the Aalto2 museum centre. Here, Aalto had the freedom to experiment with different materials, shapes, techniques and proportions.

The Muuratsalo Experimental House can be visited during the summer season with a pre-booked guided tour led by an Aalto2 guide.

Guided tours:

The Muuratsalo Experimental House is a summer house, and Aalto2 organizes public tours there between June 6 and September 8, 2026, in both Finnish and English. Participation in the public tours is only possible with a ticket purchased in advance. The tour can accommodate a maximum of 15 people. The guided part of the visit lasts about 45 minutes, and after that you can tour the area on your own. Please note that the Muuratsalo Experimental House is partly accessed via a difficult forest path, so the destination is not barrier-free.
