Ämmä - Äijä Island

Gratis

The islands of Ämmä, Äijä and Iso-Soini have coalesced, and the island is now called Ämmä-Äijä. The island is approximately 650 m long and 400 m wide. It is a good destination in both summer and winter because of its proximity to the shore. The lean-to is approximately 2.4 km from the museum shore. In the summer, sheep thin out the over-dense hay and other growth also on this island. The island features the most representative lush woodland and seashore meadows and species-rich dry and fresh meadows. During the birds’ migration season, waders such as the ruff, wood sandpiper and spotted redshank can be found on Ämmä-Äijä Island.

Services include campfire site and benches, lean-to, wood shed, information sign.
