It is been said that walls have ears. If that were true, these thick brick walls would have heard quite a bit. The Russian empress Catherine the Great and Swedish king Gustave the second met in this very building centuries ago. It has stood tall throughout the flaming 19th century when Hamina burnt three times.
Now this 18th century house has a new role as a museum. The exhibition presents widely the past of Hamina from the first steps of the humankind at Hamina’s soil to the most recent years. If you want to get to know to the town and its history, this is definitely the place to be!
