Home Hotel Katajanokka
Dinner included!
Home Hotel Katajanokka is beautifully situated on the island of Katajanokka in central Helsinki, housed within a former prison dating back to 1837. This elegant hotel offers a unique atmosphere brimming with history. Enjoy a tranquil stay with breakfast, afternoon fika, and dinner served daily as part of your room rate.
The hotel is located about a 10-minute drive from Helsinki city centre. Within its thick brick walls, the Helsinki County Prison once operated. When the building was transformed into a hotel, its rich history was brought into the modern era, creating a magical world of contrasts.
The oldest part of the hotel dates back to 1837, with the main building constructed in 1888. Following extensive restoration, the building opened as a hotel in 2007 and was renovated again in 2017. The hotel's wonderful Restaurant Linnankellari serves breakfast, afternoon fika, and dinner as part of an overnight stay.
The former prison cells have been lovingly transformed into cozy and stylish hotel rooms. The thick walls, high ceilings, and triple-glazed windows ensure minimal noise for a great night's sleep. Additional facilities include a gym, parking, and several meeting rooms.
