On a guided boat trip, we get to know the water bodies surrounding the national park, Lake Petkeljärvi and Lake Valkiajärvi. On the way, we might see the Osprey in its nest or fishing, the Kanadian beaver and the national park's signature bird, the Black-throated Diver/Arctic Loon, swimming, and we also go to see how the border zone of our eastern border is marked in the middle of the lake, through which in principle you could get to Russia, but we stay closely on the Finnish side. During the trip, the guide explains how, e.g. how the ice age has shaped ridge landscapes, the history of the area and special features.
