Philosophical Vienna – A Journey of Mind and Music
Vienna has for a long time been know as the birthplace of both philosophy and art. A place where Ludwig Wittgenstein contemplated the meaning of life, where Karl Popper questioned the nature of truth and where Sigmund Freud opened the door into the world of the subconscious. This same city has given us Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Schubert, whose music also addresses similar profound topics about the nature of being that human kind has always concerned themselves with: the beauty of life, suffering and the impermanence of existence.
The Philosophical Vienna concert by the Kyiv Virtuosi quintet combines music with introspection. The bright, almost supernatural harmonies of Mozart interact with the melancholy of Schubert’s melodies echoing the existential experience of being human. Both pieces wrestle with topics that have been sources of debate among great Viennese thinkers for ages: the limits of reality, universality of emotions and the human longing for a meaningful life.
This is a concert that is sure to engage both the thinking and the feeling side of every audience member. Come to Mikaeli and let the music and philosophy of Vienna open you a door into the most profound questions concerning the nature of human existence.
