The Easter festivities in Helsinki culminates on Easter Saturday with the Via Crucis - Stages of the Cross procession through the city centre. Based on medieval traditions, the procession goes through the city centre ending on the steps of Helsinki Cathedral. The same day, Easter bonfires are lit on Seurasaari Island to ward off evil spirits, and children dress up as trolls with coffee pots and brooms.
