The Saloinen Museum in Arkkukari is an extensive complex consisting of 18 buildings. Its atmospheric setting offers a glimpse into the lives of farmers and fishermen of Saloinen in the old days. The oldest building in the museum area, the old main room of the Mutala farm, dates back to the 18th century. The impressive windmill once stood in Tokolanperä, an area that is now home to SSAB’s Raahe steelworks.

The museum grounds, rich in history, host the traditional Olavinpäivä Market in July, on the Saturday closest to St. Olaf’s Day. The market tradition is one of the longest in our region, with roots reaching back to the Middle Ages.

Punainen Tupa, maintained by the Saloinen Local Heritage and Museum Association, features varying exhibitions and a summer café.
