Lappeenranta Harbour

Free

The beautiful Harbour area in Lappeenranta begins at the Shore Park (Rantapuisto), also known as the Kasino Park and continues all the way to the largest Sandcastle in Finland and the Myllysaari area. The magnificent boardwalk runs along the City Bay to the Harbour.

From the City Bay (Kaupunginlahti) Harbour, you can sail away on an archipelago cruise of Lake Saimaa and the Saimaa Canal for a few hours in the summer and early Autumn.

In the summer, the Harbour Square offers local specialities, such as vety and atomi meat pies that you can feast on while enjoying live music and admiring the views of Lake Saimaa.

Year-round, the Harbour area holds many family-friendly happenings, such as the International Grand Market and the Harbour Lights at the end of Summer. During wintertime the area turns into the centre of winter activities with e.g. cross-country ski tracks and walking paths on the beautiful frozen Lake Saimaa. Make the most out of it and walk to Karhusaari island, only under 1 km from the Harbour. You can also go on the Rantaraitti Lakeside Route that crosses the Harbour. For the fast and furious suits sleigh-go-round on the frozen Lake next to the Harbour Square. The Square will have a snow slide and ice sculptures to enjoy. The restaurants, cafés and spa services of the area serve visitors, as well.
