On this journey, you will get to know – and taste – the best of the Lake Saimaa region. The awarded Saimaa Gastronomy tour brings together culinary experiences by three unique travel companies in this region: Sahanlahti Resort, Teahouse of Wehmais, and Tertti Manor.

Restaurant Koskivahti is located in the Sahanlahti Resort in the very heart of Lakeland, Puumala – 1,5 hours west of Punkaharju. In the Koskivahti restaurant, you'll be able to taste culinary treats prepared by the resort's chefs in one the most beautiful terrace sceneries in Finland. The history of Sahanlahti ('saw bay' in Finnish) dates all the way back to 1740s.

Our kitchen uses local ingredients from Saimaa region.

Sahanlahden päärakennuksen ravintola Koskivahdissa hemmottelet makuhermojasi kokkiemme itse valmistamilla lounailla sekä illallisilla – Suomen kauneimmissa terassimaisemissa. Kartanomainen rakennus on alkujaan ollut Sahan johtajan virka-asunto ja kirjailija Elsa Heporaudan synnyinkoti. 

Kodikas, mutta arvokas tila sopii erinomaisesti myös juhlien viettoon aina 120 hengen tilaisuuksiin saakka. Aurinkoisella terassilla on lisäksi tilaa noin 100 hengelle. Koskivahdissa on myös pieni kabinetti, joka soveltuu alle 20 hengen yksityisempiin kohtaamisiin.

Ravintola Koskivahti tarjoilee iltaisin à la carte -annoksia paikallisten pientuottajien raaka-aineista. Ruokalistalta löytyy Savonlinnan Tiisanmäen lammasta, Juvan Kaartilan Mallaspossun lihaa ja tietysti Puumalan kuuluisaa kirjolohia.

Suosittelemme pöytävarausta lounaalle ja illalliselle. Otamme pöytävarauksia vastaan toukokuun alusta alkaen.

Koskivahdin aulassa on myös pieni viehättävä myymälä, josta voit ostaa matkamuistoja ja jotain kivaa itsellesi. Kahvila on avoinna klo 10 alkaen ja siellä on tarjolla tuoreita leivonnaisia, luomukahvia, Juvan TeaHouse of Wehmaisin haudutettua teetä sekä virkistäviä kesäjuomia ja jäätelöä.

Cosy mansion atmosphere at restaurant Koskivahti

In restaurant Koskivahti, located in the main building of Sahanlahti, you can treat your taste buds to lunches and dinners prepared by our chefs – in the most beautiful terrace scenery in Finland. The mansion-like building was originally the official residence of the director of the Sawmill and the birthplace of the writer Elsa Heporauta. The cosy but elegant space is also ideal for parties of up to 120 people. The sunny terrace can also accommodate around 100 people. Koskivahti also has a small cabinet, suitable for more private meetings of fewer than 20 people. 

Koskivahti’s summer offerings

At the Sahanlahti breakfast, you can enjoy homemade, traditional Karelian pasties, Kaartilan Mallaspossu smoked ham, and organic barley porridge slow-cooked overnight, for which we grind the grain ourselves. 

During the day, we serve a seasonal lunch from a daily changing menu. 

In the evenings, Koskivahti restaurant serves à la carte dishes prepared from ingredients from small local producers. The menu includes Tiisanmäki lamb from Savonlinna, Kaartila Mallaspossu pork from Juva, and of course, Puumala’s famous rainbow trout. 

We recommend booking a table for lunch and dinner. 

The Koskivahti lobby also has a charming shop where you can buy souvenirs and something nice for yourself. The café is open from 10 am and serves freshly baked pastries, organic coffee, brewed tea from TeaHouse of Wehmais in Juva, and of course, refreshing summer drinks and ice cream. 

We will take table reservations from the beginning of May.

Im Restaurant Koskivahti im Hauptgebäude von Sahanlahti verwöhnen unsere Küchenchefs Ihre Geschmacksnerven mit leckerem Mittag- und Abendessen - in der wohl schönsten Terrassenlandschaft Finnlands. Das herrschaftliche Gebäude war ursprünglich die offizielle Residenz des Sägewerksdirektors und das Geburtshaus der Schriftstellerin Elsa Heporauta. Der gemütliche, aber elegante Raum ist auch ideal für Feiern mit bis zu 120 Personen geeignet. Auf der sonnigen Terrasse finden ebenfalls rund 100 Personen Platz. Koskivahti verfügt auch über ein kleines Nebenzimmer, das sich für privatere Treffen mit weniger als 20 Personen eignet. 

Sommerangebote im Restaurant Koskivahti

Beim Sahanlahti-Frühstück können Sie hausgemachte, traditionelle karelische Pasteten, Räucherschinken von mit Biermalz gemästeten Schweinen der Farm Kaartila und über Nacht langsam eingekochten Bio-Gerstenbrei aus selbst gemahlenem Getreide genießen. 

Tagsüber servieren wir saisonale Mittagsgerichte aus einer täglich wechselnden Karte. 

Am Abend haben Sie im Restaurant Koskivahti die Möglichkeit, à-la-carte-Gerichte zu essen, die aus den Zutaten kleiner lokaler Erzeuger zubereitet werden. Auf der Speisekarte stehen Tiisanmäki-Lamm aus Savonlinna, Schweinefleisch von der Kaartila-Farm aus Juva und natürlich Puumalas berühmte Regenbogenforelle. 

Wir empfehlen, für Mittag- und Abendessen einen Tisch zu reservieren. 
In der Lobby des Restaurants Koskivahti befindet sich auch ein entzückender kleiner Laden, in dem Sie Souvenirs und etwas Schönes für sich selbst kaufen können. Das Café ist ab 10 Uhr geöffnet und serviert frisch gebackenes Gebäck, Bio-Kaffee, Tee aus dem Teehaus Wehmais in Juva und natürlich erfrischende Sommergetränke und Eis. 

Tischreservierungen nehmen wir ab Anfang Mai entgegen.


Gemütliche Herrenhausatmosphäre im Restaurant Koskivahti

Au restaurant Koskivahti, situé dans le bâtiment principal du Sahanlahti, vous aurez l’occasion de régaler vos papilles avec les plats préparés par nos chefs. Le tout est servi sur une terrasse offrant le plus beau panorama finlandais. Le bâtiment, aux allures de manoir, était originellement la résidence du directeur de la scierie, ainsi que le lieu de naissance de l’écrivaine Elsa Heporauta. Confortable et élégant, le restaurant peut accueillir des groupes de 120 personnes maximum. La terrasse ensoleillée, quant à elle, peut accueillir jusqu’à 100 personnes. Le Koskivahti dispose également d’un petit salon plus intime pour les rendez-vous de 20 personnes ou moins. 

Le menu d’été du Koskivahti

Pour le petit-déjeuner, vous pourrez profiter au Sahanlahti de viennoiseries caréliennes traditionnelles, du jambon fumé Kaartila Mallaspossu et de la bouillie d’orge bio, mijotée toute la nuit et dont les grains sont moulus par nos soins. 

En journée, nous servons un déjeuner de saison différent tous les jours. 
Et en soirée, le restaurant Koskivahti sert des menus à la carte préparés à partir d’ingrédients provenant de petits producteurs locaux. Le menu comprend de l’agneau Tiisanmäki de Savonlinna, du porc Kaartila Mallaspossu de Juva et la fameuse truite arc-en-ciel de Puumala. 

Nous recommandons de réserver pour le déjeuner et le dîner. 
À l’entrée du Koskivahti se trouve un charmant petit magasin où vous pourrez acheter des souvenirs de votre passage. Le café ouvre à 10 h 00 du matin et sert des viennoiseries toutes chaudes, du café bio et du thé préparé par la TeaHouse of Wehmais, à Juva. Et bien entendu, vous y trouverez également des boissons fraîches pour l’été ainsi que des glaces. 

Les réservations de tables se feront à partir du mois de mai.

Nella colazione Sahanlahti, puoi gustare pasticcini tradizionali della Carelia fatti in casa, prosciutto affumicato Kaartilan Mallaspossu e porridge d'orzo biologico cotto a fuoco lento durante la notte, per il quale maciniamo noi stessi i chicchi. 

Durante il giorno serviamo un pranzo stagionale basato su un menu che cambia quotidianamente. 

La sera, il ristorante Koskivahti serve piatti à la carte preparati con ingredienti di piccoli produttori locali. Il menu comprende l'agnello Tiisanmäki di Savonlinna, il maiale Kaartila Mallaspossu di Juva e, naturalmente, la famosa trota iridea di Puumala. 

Consigliamo di prenotare un tavolo per pranzo e cena. 

La hall del Koskivahti include anche un grazioso negozio dove puoi acquistare souvenir e qualcosa di carino per te. La caffetteria è aperta dalle 10:00 e serve dolci appena sfornati, caffè biologico, tè preparato dalla TeaHouse of Wehmais di Juva e, naturalmente, rinfrescanti bevande estive e gelati.

Neitvuori and Hiidenmaa hiking routes are located 35-43 kilometres from Mikkeli to the east, and can be reached from the Anttola-Puumala -road (road 62) or road 5 from Rahula, just north of Mikkeli.
The route is guided from the road 62 in Anttola, about 24 km from Mikkeli (signpost:Kokkosenlahti, Neitvuori) and road 5 in Rahula about 12 km from Mikkeli (signpost: Kokkosenlahti ).

The magnificient guardian and symbol of Hiidenmaa Routes is the Hiidenvuori mountain, a mountain today more commonly called "Neitvuori". From the top of the mountain one experiences a beathtaking view over the Luonteri archipelago (110m above the level of the lake Saimaa).

Hiidenmaa hiking routes offer numerous alternatives for a nature enthusiast.

1. "Hiijje Silimukka" hiking trail is about 4 km long and it starts from the parking lot next to the Hiidenmaa farm. Trail is signposted by orange color.

2. The renowned "Hiidenkierros"  trails, 12 km, can be accessed from Hiijje Silimukka trail. The trails are signposted by red color.

Neitvuori Hill and Hiidenmaa Routes

Neitvuori on yksi Etelä-Savon korkeimmista vuorista 184 m, jonka huippu on 110 m Saimaan pintaa korkeammalla. Neitvuorelta avautuu näkymät hyvällä säällä jopa kymmenien kilometrien päähän Luonterin saaristoon, sokkeloiselle Saimaalle.
Paikka tunnettiin ennen Hiidenvuorena, mutta sitä alettiin nimittämään Neitvuoreksi Isovihan aikaan venäläisiä paenneen neidon syöksyttyä alas jyrkänteeltä.

Neitvuoren retkeilyreitti ja näköalapaikat 1 – 16 km

1. Hiidenmaan tilan viereiseltä pysäköintialueelta lähtee oranssein merkein viitoitettu retkeilyreitti ”Hiije silmukka”, joka on pituudeltaan 4 kilometriä. Vaaramaisemat ihastuttavat retkeilijää ja Neitvuorelta avautuukin upea maisema sokkeloiselle Saimaalle, norpan kotivesille. Pysäköintipaikalta on kilometrin matka Neitvuoren tulentekopaikalle, jossa on myös laavu ja käymälä.

2. "Hiidenkierros", pituudeltaan 12 kilometriä. Hiije silmukalta pääsee Hiidenkierroksen kunnostetuille ja viitoitetuille poluille. Reitin polut ovat merkitty maastoon punaisella. Reitin varrelta löydät kauniiden maisemien lisäksi Hiidenkodan tulentekopaikkoineen ja uintipaikkoineen sekä Riihijärven uintimahdollisuudet.

Neitvuori ja Hiidenmaan retkeilyreitit

Neitvuori ist mit 184 m eine der höchsten Erhebungen in Süd-Savo, deren Spitze 110 m über der Wasserfläche des Saimaa-Sees liegt. Bei schönem Wetter bieten sich von Neitvuori Ausblicke bis zu zehn Kilometer weit auf die Luonteri-Inselwelt im zerklüfteten Saimaa-Gebiet.
Der Ort war früher als Hiidenvuori bekannt, aber er wurde in Neitvuori umbenannt, nachdem ein Mädchen, das während des Großen Unfriedens vor den Russen floh, einen Abhang herabstürzte.

Neitvuori Wanderweg und Aussichtspunkte 1 – 16 km

1. Vom Parkplatz neben dem Hof Hiidenmaa beginnt die orange ausgeschilderte Wanderroute „Hiije silmukka“ (Hiije-Schleife), die 4 Kilometer lang ist. Die sanft ansteigenden Landschaften erfreuen den Wanderer, und von Neitvuori öffnet sich eine großartige Landschaft auf den labyrinthartigen Saimaa, den heimatlichen Gewässern der Saimaa-Robbe. Vom Parkplatz ist es ein Kilometer bis zur Feuerstelle Neitvuori, wo sich auch eine Schutzüberdachung und eine Toilette befinden.

2. "Hiidenkierros"-Runde, 12 Kilometer lang. Von der Hiije-Schleife gelangt man auf die instandgesetzten und ausgeschilderten Wanderwege der Hiidenkierros-Runde. Die Wege der Route sind im Gelände rot markiert. Entlang der Route finden Sie neben wunderschönen Landschaften auch die Hiidenkota nebst Feuerstellen und Badeplätzen sowie die Bademöglichkeiten des Sees Riihijärvi.

Wanderrouten Neitvuori und Hiidenmaa

Neitvuori est l'une des plus hautes montagnes du sud de Savo s’élevant à 184 m, dont le sommet est 110 m plus haut que la surface de Saimaa. Par beau temps, Neitvuori offre des vues jusqu'à des dizaines de kilomètres sur l'archipel de Luonteri dans le labyrinthe de Saimaa.
L'endroit était autrefois connu sous le nom de Hiidenvuori, mais il a reçu son nom actuel Neitvuori après qu'une fille qui s'était échappée des Russes pendant la Grande colère a plongé de la falaise.

Sentier de randonnée et points de vue de Neitvuori 1 - 16 km

1. Depuis le parking à côté de la ferme Hiidenmaa commence le sentier de randonnée « Hiije silmukka » balisé par des signalisations oranges, long de 4 kilomètres. Les paysages montagneux ravissent le randonneur, et depuis Neitvuori, un paysage magnifique s'ouvre sur le labyrinthe de Saimaa, les eaux natales du phoque annelé. Du parking, il y a un kilomètre jusqu'au site de feu de camp de Neitvuori, qui dispose également d'un bivouac et de toilettes.

2. « Hiidenkierros », long de 12 kilomètres. Depuis Hiije silmukka, vous pouvez accéder aux sentiers rénovés et balisés de Hiidenkierros. Les chemins de la randonnée sont balisés en rouge sur le terrain. Le long de la route, vous trouverez, en plus de beaux paysages, Hiidenkota avec ses sites de feu de camp et de baignade, ainsi que les possibilités de baignade dans le lac Riihijärvi.

Neitvuori (184 m) è uno dei monti più alti del Savo Meridionale. La sua cima si erge 110 m sopra alla superficie del lago Saimaa. In condizioni meteorologiche favorevoli,  Neitvuori offre visibilità di ben decine di chilometri sull’arcipelago di Luonteri, nel labirintico lago Saimaa.
Il luogo era conosciuto come Hiidenvuori, ma il nome venne sostituito da Neitvuori dopo che una ragazza in fuga dai Russi durante il periodo della loro occupazione si precipitò dal dirupo.

Sentiero escursionistico e punti panoramici di Neitvuori 1 - 16 km

1. Dal parcheggio adiacente alla fattoria di Hiidenmaa inizia il “Hiije silmukka”, un percorso escursionistico della lunghezza di 4 chilometri e segnalato da cartelli arancioni. I paesaggi tipicamente boschivi e scoscesi deliziano gli occhi degli escursionisti; da Neitvuori si apre una veduta mozzafiato sul labirintico lago Saimaa, habitat prediletto delle foche.  Il focolare di Neitvuori, presso il quale si trovano anche una capanna con tettoia e bagni esterni, dista un chilometro dal parcheggio.

2. “Hiidenkierros” (Il giro del demone), lungo 12 chilometri. Dal Hilje silmukka si ha accesso ai sentieri rinnovati e segnalati di Hiidenkierros. I sentieri del percorso sono segnalati sul terreno in rosso. Oltre ai meravigliosi panorami, lungo il percorso si trovano anche il Hiidenkota, una tradizionale capanna in legno con proprio focolare e zona balneare, e le facilità acquatiche di Riihijärvi.

Accommodation, events and activities at Löytö Manor in Mikkeli 

The historical Löytö Manor dates back to the early 18th century and offers an atmospheric environment for events such as weddings or birthday parties or a holiday relaxing in one of our lakeside cottages and villas. 

Located 15 km from Mikkeli city centre, our countryside manor has four picturesque rooms upstairs which sleep two with shared amenities. Downstairs we have beautiful dining rooms perfect for any kind of celebration. 

In our courtyard you find a split Garden Cottage dating back to 1903 which was recently renovated to offer year-round accommodation. With two separate units with private entrances, the cottages both sleep 2-3 people. 

Our two 3 bedroom villas, Urho and Elisabet, both have beautiful lakeside views, private docks and saunas. Both villas have 2 bathrooms and a big veranda with a dining table and gas barbeque. 

Our Lakeside Cottage sleeps 1-5 people and has its own private sauna and dock. The fireplace will give a homely feel to the place and you can enjoy the beautiful lakeside views on the big veranda. 

If you are looking to get even closer to nature, our Trumpet Player’s Cottage is the place to stay. With basic amenities, suitable for the summertime only, this cottage sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms and 3 on mattresses in the loft. The cottage has electricity, an indoor shower and an outside toilet. 

Larch Cottage sleeps max 4 and is for summer use only. The cottage has electricity and running water, but toilets and showers are located on the campsite nearby. 

We also offer catering services for an additional fee. All guests are able to use our lakeside sauna free of charge, please ask for the schedule. Lakeside sauna is also available for private hire. Our guests can use our rowing boats, fishing rods and bicycles for free. The rental price of the villas includes two tickets to the Metsälinna Dance Pavilion closeby. 

The estate and surrounding area have perfect trails for Nordic walking and cross country skiing or hiking. The largest collection of ancient rock paintings in the Nordics, Astuvansalmi, are located only 30 mins from us by road. Guided trips also available on request.

During all its history Löydön Kartano has a great influence on development at a local level, you can even find connections to the history of the state. The history of the manor can be traced back as far as the early 18th century, at that time the owner was superintendent of bridges with the surname Särkkä.

Kuoreksenniemi Villas (117 m²) 

The holiday home has three bedrooms with sleeping facilities for six people. The villa has a view of Lake Saimaa (through a birch forest) and a spacious sauna area. The villas are semi-detached, and some have a fireplace. The living room’s high windows offer a luminous view. The excellent architecture ensures that everyone has their own sheltered and enclosed terrace space. On the large terrace in the backyard, you can enjoy the sun all day long. The spacious and functional layout of the common areas and the 3 separate bedrooms make the villa versatile and easily adaptable. 

The villa is equipped with a flat-screen TV and a radio/CD player. The kitchen has a fridge, freezer, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, and dining set. There is a barbecue on the terrace. The villa has two shower and toilet facilities. The utility room has a washing machine, iron, and ironing board. 

There are 3 apartments for 1 to 6 persons. Pets are welcome for an extra charge.

Das Ferienhaus hat 3 Schlafzimmer mit 6 Betten. Die Villa besitzt einen Seeblick durch den (Birkenwald)und eine geräumige Sauna. Jede Doppelhaushälfte verfügt über einen Kamin, der sich in einem Wohnzimmer mit deckenhohen Fenstern mit Seeblick befindet.
Die Bauweise garantiert jeder Doppelhaushälfte eine private Terrasse mit ganztägiger Sonne. 

Jede Villa ist mit einem Flachbildfernseher und einem Radio/ CD-Spieler ausgestattet.
Die Küche beinhaltet einen Kühlschrank, Gefrierschrank, eine Kaffeemaschine, einem Toaster, Herd, Ofen, Mikrowelle, Spülmaschine, Geschirr sowie Besteck. Ein Grill auf der Terrasse ist vorhanden. Ebenso gibt es 2 Badezimmer. Ebenso gibt es eine Waschmaschine, ein Bügeleisen und Bügelbrett.

Es gibt 3 Villen für je 1-6 Personen. Haustiere sind gegen ein Aufpreis willkommen.
